Theatr Brycheiniog is the home of performing arts and entertainment in Brecon.
Theatr Brycheiniog was founded in 1997, when they opened their theatre at the end of the lovely Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. They’re based in Brecon, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, where they run visual arts programs throughout the year. Local artists are displayed in the Andrew Lamont Gallery, and their acclaimed bistro, Tipple’n’Tiffin, is well worth a visit. But that’s not all! As well as producing an acclaimed programme of performing arts, they have the distinction of being the first solar-powered theatre in Wales.
Theatr Brycheiniog is funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Powys County Council and Brecon Town Council.
Theatr Brycheiniog came to us with a brief for a new, responsive website that would help reinvigorate their brand in order to increase ticket sales and maximise engagement with their users.
They wanted a clean, intuitive site that would reach out to a younger audience, presenting Theatr Brycheiniog as a relavant resource for young people.
They also wanted their new site to provide the theatre with a platform to promote its educational activities and outreach work.
A focus on engaging with non-traditional theatre visitors, including families from disadvantaged communities, went hand-in-hand with their desire to provide high-quality performances and educational events for the theatre’s core audience.
To make a website visitor’s experience as intuitive as possible, we introducted colour-coded event categories to focus the user journey through the site. This makes it easy for users to navigate through events that are relevant to them.
With Ticketsolve box-office software at the heart of Theatr Brycheiniog’s online sales, it was crucial for us to ensure that it integrated seamlessly with their new site. We also used the Ticketsolve events feed to populate the website with the event information, dates, categies and images, meaning it only has to be added once.
We also built the events feed to generate feature banners, a gallery and a calendar. This allows Theatr Brycheiniog to spend less time posting events online, so they can focus on organising new ones!
