Brief

ASH is Wales’ only dedicated advice and support service for smokers seeking help and advice in how to quit. Although the organisation already had an extensive site, it was looking a little dated and lacking in updated functionality and interactive features. Creo successfully competed for and won the tender to re-develop the site.

Solution

Our extensive experience in community issue sites such as this proved an important factor when ASH awarded the contract to us. Key features within the new site are:

  • Bi-Lingual Capability
  • An online shop for ASH products
  • Information and links to the Quitex Programme
  • An Online Advocacy Module (To send ASH related policy questions direct to a local MP)
  • Detailed information about the various ways individuals and companies can donate to ASH.
  • Comprehensive listings of the various educational workshops run by ASH.

Essential to the site’s continued success and usability was the inclusion of the iCreate Content Management System. This allows site administrators to edit the content of virtually every aspect of the site, without having to acquire any HTML coding knowledge. This will greatly help the organisation in its pursuit of its overall aim – eliminating tobacco addiction within Wales. It will also help ASH staff keep the large number of news items, often displayed in pdf format, current and publish the constantly changing findings in the field of nicotine research.

Also essential to the overall success of the new site were the promotion of ASH’s material designed to raise awareness of the problems associated with early teenage smoking and the chronic illnesses it leads to. In general it’s fair to say that the re-development of the site focussed on delivering a lot more interactivity and physical support from a smoker’s point of view. Whereas the current site merely provided some facts and statistics relating to the habit, the new one will foreground the various workshops and educational programmes run by the charity.

Although the previous site had a facility to sell ASH merchandise it was rather limited in its capabilities. The new Creo site will make it far easier for visitors to purchase the wide variety of anti-smoking aids and materials.

Work is already well underway in the design of the new site scheduled to ‘go live’ on the 31st of March. Creo are proud to be working so closely with such a worthwhile organisation.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Andrew and the team. They are very responsive to our questions and concerns. Our new website is exceptionally easy for us to maintain and has driven up visitor numbers. The Creo team had lots of great ideas and worked with us to achieve a website that we are exceptionally pleased with.
